BC Professional Truck Driving Championships

The 2010 British Columbia Professional Truck Driving Championships will be held on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Tradex Centre in Abbotsford, BC. The competition attracts up to 70 of the best professional drivers from across the province, an equal number of volunteer judges and committee organizers from throughout the industry, and several hundred industry spectators throughout the day and evening.

There are six classes of competition ranging from Step Van through to B-Train. The competition consists of three tests of knowledge and skill: a written exam, which tests the drivers’ general knowledge of the industry and equipment; a vehicle inspection, during which drivers must find a series of planted defects; and the actual driving competition, which simulates the everyday skills of maneuvering, cornering and judging distance on an obstacle course. To be eligible to compete, each driver must have been actively employed and accident-free for the twelve month period prior to the championships.

In support of the industry organizing committee, the British Columbia Trucking Association is pleased to host and sponsor the truck driving championships on an annual basis to recognize the professional drivers who help keep BC’s roads safe for all motorists. The driving portion of the contest will take place from 8:00 am to approximately 5:00 pm on Saturday, June 26, 2010 at Tradex. Spectators are very welcome to attend; there is no admission charge.

In order for the organizing committee to successfully hold the championships, we depend greatly on sponsorship support. Sponsors will be recognized through signage and verbally at the event and awards banquet, in the program distributed at the event, on the BC Professional Truck Driving Championship website and through the BCTA Bulletin newsletter.
